I have had the privilege of serving at The Gate Church for the last two years as a ministry apprentice, working with our outreach worker to serve families in the local community. Our community is incredibly diverse, with people from Iran, Japan, Poland, and Jamaica living within a short walk of one another. From young families, refugees, immigrants, young professionals, and long-standing Birmingham natives, we have the nations at our fingertips.
We started an after-school club in a local primary school where we spend an hour each week teaching children about Jesus, playing fun games, making fun crafts, and eating some treats. We've run a host of one-day events called Family Fun Days, where children get to hear a story about Jesus while their parents enjoy a hot drink and snack with the littlest kids. Long-term my role is going to be focused on reaching children and families with the good news about Jesus.

- Longevity to build better relationships with my neighbors, as well as making and building new friendships with non-Christians.
- That The Gate Church would grow to be able to plant a church in another part of the city.
- To grow in knowledge and depth of insight of Jesus, and to have the courage to share that in a post-Christian culture.
